Truth, Approach / Avoidance
These works combine “found” surplus school-room chalk boards with the Interactive Art genre of spectator participation.
We are simultaneously familiar with responding to this surface, the dangling chalk chuck beckons us, yet we have also been societally taught not to touch works of art in a museum. My intention with these works was to create an approach-avoidance trait based on learned social norms.
